Introduction
Technicalix was founded by James Baron, a Chartered Environmentalist and member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP) and the Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals (ISEP, formerly IEMA).
I offer a copywriting and editing service for most subjects, although I specialise in science and engineering, with particular expertise in environmental matters (e.g. environmental engineering; sustainability; energy; air and water pollution; conservation; environmental policy and management; and climate change).
However, editing skills are transferable to any subject matter – prior knowledge of a subject often helps but isn’t always essential. In terms of copywriting, I have written about subjects ranging from international shipping and software for construction projects, to competition swimming pools and outdoor canopies for schools.
Qualifications
My qualifications include MSc Environmental Engineering (Distinction) and BSc (Hons) Geography. In more recent years, I’ve completed training by the CIEP and also the Publishing Training Centre, qualifying with Merit.
Experience
Prior to freelance copywriting and editing I’ve worked in several industries in the public and private sectors over the past 30+ years.
Throughout my career, I’ve written and edited material for a variety of purposes. This includes management reports, procedures, case studies, blogs, training material, user guides and web content, to name just a few.
